Scuola di Robotica

Educational Robotics

Corso Roberta a GambolòThe School of Robotics is not a traditional school, with walls, classrooms and chairs, because it intends to promote the understanding of Robotics within the framework of existing educational and teaching institutions. In the cyberspace epoch, we shall modernize not only the contents but also the educational teaching methods of our school system.

The School of Robotics seeks to:

  • Establishing new kinds of training and professional refresher courses
  • Designing and developing supplementary courses bridging different training systems and programs
  • Promoting collaboration among school systems, public institutions, industry, cultural and educational associations
  • Designing new educational content to be introduced into e-learning networks.

By thus promoting real-time participation by students and teachers in the activities of research centers and labs, results will include:

  • Providing continuous refresher courses for teachers
  • Making it easier for new high school graduates to find a job
  • selecting and coaching of graduates interested in university careers; andhelping companies and workers keep abreast of new technologies

To do this, School of Robotics intends to work closely with school systems, to reach undergraduates by means of the Internet and communication technologies, and to work with teachers and students on robotic research through a kind of Distributed Virtual Laboratory (DVLab). The DVLab will be connected to many real laboratories and robotic industries, and will benefit from their R&D activities.

Learning about Robotics is important not only for those students who want to become robotics engineers and scientists, but for every student, because it provides a strong method of reasoning and a powerful tool for grappling with the world.

As a matter of fact, Robotics collects all the competencies needed for designing and constructing machines (Mechanics, Electrotechnics, Electronics), computers, software, systems of communications, and networks.

The special features of Robotics boosts student creativity, communication skills, cooperation, and teamwork.Learning about Robotics promotes students' interest in and commitment to traditional basic disciplines (Math, Physics, Technical Drawing).

We do not propose to add another subject, Robotics, to the existing curriculum. Our goal is to introduce interdisciplinary educational modules about Robotics into current educational programs, exploiting communications and information technologies.

In this way we can establish experimental teaching projects in individual schools and also, throughout networks of schools, at the national and international levels.
