AppTheIsland is a smartphone app for use in water and under water which allows an increase in the activities of snorkeling in the Marine Protected Island Bergeggi. With AppTheIsland you can identify marine species, follow nature trails in the sea and make a diary nature to share. AppTheIsland is one of eleven projects selected under the Call for Small Project 2014 MEDPAN network, the network of managers of Marine Protected Areas in the Mediterranean Sea. With the financial support of FFEM, MAVA Foundation and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. AppTheIsland was designed and built by RSTA SCRL, by School of Robotics and in collaboration with the Marine Protected Area (MPA) "Island of Bergeggi."
Thanks to AppTheIsland you will recognize marine organisms seen in the Marine Protected Area of Bergeggi. Indicate the presence of both protected species and "alien" ones. You will raise awareness of the Marine Protected Area and promote tourist services, using your smartphone under water, while also promoting "social snorkeling".
