EDUROB kick off meeting: A European project on educational robotics and learning disabilities
Reading time Reading time: 0.5 minutes

EDUROB "Educational Robotics for Students with Learning Disabilities" kick-off meeting was held in Nottingham on February 28th-March 2nd, 2014. School of Robotics is involved as member of Europole Network. We are called to develop some methodologies for using educational robotics in autism.

EDUROB aims to develop innovative robotic mediated learning strategies and scenarios for students with learning disabilities, supported by dedicated training material (Curriculum and Pedagogical Framework) which will be validated in Case Studies through pilots in 5 EU countries. These will be accompanied by an Open Source Multiplatform interface to easily drive these validated Robotic Mediated learning strategies and scenarios for easy use in special classrooms and training centres. Skills developed might include cause and effect, communication, vocalisation, sequencing skills, understanding commands etc. The project will adopt an ethnographic approach to interviewing teachers and training to determine useful learning strategies and scenarios and use thematic analyses to determine a range of case studies, which will be evaluated using outcome measures including goal achievement, help required and engagement.
