The Naples Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and of Life Science are launching the First edition of the 2nd Level Master courses RIS (Robotics and Intelligent Systems). Master RIS is certificated INPDAP.

Monday, November 15th, 2010 (8:30 to 13:30), at the Bobbio Hall of the Faculty of Egineering, Naples, the Master RIS will be presented.
Jean-Paul Laumond of LAAS-CNR, representing the Master’s Committee, is going to speak on “Laboratoire d’Analyse et d’Architecture des Systèmes au CNRS”. Furthermore, the Sponsoring Partners will feature their contributions and expectations.

The Meeting’s Agenda portends the welcome speeches by the University Chancellor, professor Massimo Marrelli; by the Regional Minister for University and Research of the Campania Region, professor Guido Trombetti; by professor Massimo D’Apuzzo, President of the Science and Technology District; by the Academic Deans professor Piero Salatino (Engineering) and professor Roberto Pettorino (Mathematics, Physics, and Life Science); and by the head of the Department of Computer Science and Systems, Professor Antonino Mazzeo, and by the head of the Department of Physical Sciences, professor Pasquale Maddalena.

Master RIS rises from the fruitful collaboration among the robotics University teams lead by professor Bruno Siciliano (DIS, Department of Computer Science and Systems) who is the Master Coordinator, and by professor Ernesto Burattini (DSF, Department of Physical Sciences). It will make use of PRISMA (Progetti di Robotica Industriale e di Servizio Meccatronica e Automazione) and PRISCA (Progetti di Robotica Intelligente e Sistemi Cognitivi Avanzati) Laboratories, which are lead respectively by professors Siciliano and Burattini.

The Master RIS aims at training and orientating students towards their future careers, through some selected work experiences at leading companies in the fields of robotics and of intelligent systems. The MASTER RIS’ students will also be assisted and supported by qualified teachers, and will be networked to the MASTER RIS’s Partner Companies, which are among the best actors in the field, both in research and industry.

The MASTER RIS’ main goals are the following:

  • Spread the knowledge of robotics and of intelligent systems, strengthening technological transfer, and supporting transdisciplinary skills;
  • Fertilize knowledge and ideas in a highly specialized and innovative field; and
  • Offer the MASTER RIS’ Partners Companies a qualified selection of professionals in robotics and intelligent systems, a parterre from where they can select their collaborators and employees.

MASTER RIS is directed to graduates in Engineering and Sciences. Its official language is English, to get students used to work and operate in a global market. Students will be encouraged to keep contacts with their colleague students in Europe and worldwide.

The maximum number of accepted candidates is 25. Some of them, up to five candidates, who will be considered eligible by merit ranking, could receive an INPDAP grant. The grant will cover MASTER RIS registration fee. Information about the INPDAP Call at:    www.inpdap.gov.it

Submission deadline: November 25th, 2010.
