On the Internet, mobile phones, social networking and other interactive services children and young people are exposed to many dangers they are not aware of (exposure of personal information & privacy; bullying; exposure to inappropriate material, such as pornography or violence; physical danger, such as meeting up with strangers met online; financial risks; viruses). Childern are exposes to many dangers through the internet whether it be while they are on moblie phones, social networking, email or other interactive services. There is a risk that is taken while using the internet. These childeren could be exposing themselves loss of personal information, finacial risks, bullying, violence, pornography, even physical danger.
Parents and tutors can intervene either directly on the computer at home or with any kind of web protection software. But, young people are brave and smart and the risk and danger is always there.
Furthermore there is no use to only warn young people about those dangers. Often, the more you are outlining potential issues, the more young people are enchanted by them.
Frontal lessons, conferences and instructions on issues of Internet-enabled devices achieve modest results.

Actually, safety on the Internet is a complex issue. Our Project Firewall aims to the core of the issue, which is young people themselves.
Firewall organizes laboratories and workshops where young are challenged to discover their inner goals. They can do this by experiencing  theatre, arts, pictures, costumes, and every way of hiding their personality. After they will discuss the following points.

  • How they see themselves
  • The way they would like to be
  • The way they presume the world sees them
  • How they would like to improve themselves.

The project is going on in the Liguria Region (Italy) with great success and results.
