Campus Party is an annual week long, 24-hours-a-day technology festival where thousands of “Campuseros” (hackers, developers, gamers and technophiles), equipped with laptops, camp on-site and immerse themselves in a truly unique environment. The School of Robotics goes there with a prototype of a robotic arm remotely controlled by a glove.

SCHOOL OF ROBOTICS’ ROBOTICS ARM TO CAMPUS PARTY LONDON 2013

School of Robotics (www.scuoladirobotica.it) is attending Campus Party London 2013 (2 – 7 September) presenting an original robotics arm remotely controlled, via Wi-Fi, through a human arm.
The physical robotics arm has been designed with Solid edge and printed with a 3D printer. It has 5 degrees of freedom and a 3-fingers robotics claws able to move independently from the arm.
The arm’s control unit is based on Arduino microcontroller.
The arm’s electronic part is comprising of two accelerometers, and of one gyroscope to identify its movements in space. It has also 3 flexible resistors to identify the opening and closure of the claws.
A FIO Arduino unit is employed as data transmission through XBEE module.
The receiving unit is based on the Arduino UNO board controlling the robotics arm.

Recognized as the biggest electronic entertainment event in the world, Campus Party unites the brightest young minds in technology and science under the idea that “the Internet is not a network of computers, it’s a network of people.”

The festival features over 500 hours of talks, debates, workshops, competitions and hackathons related to science, innovation, digital entertainment and creativity. Additionally, hundreds of hours of ad-hoc events are planned by participants and continue throughout the night.

In the past 16 years, the 250 people who attended the first Campus Party have grown into a global community of over 264,000 campuseros with annual events taking place in Brazil, Columbia, Spain, Ecuador and Mexico in addition to two special European (Madrid, Berlin), Mediterranean Basin and Ibero-America editions.
