The IEEE I-RAS Chapter sponsors or cosponsors minisymposia, awards and student competitions and continuing education workshops. It also provides valuable professional contacts, especially for engineers who may have few co-workers who are robotics or automation professionals.
One becomes a member of the IEEE I-RAS Chapter when she/he joins the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.
Italian RAS chapter was established in 2000. Paolo Fiorini was the Italian RAS chair from 2001 to March 2006, Domenico Prattichizzo from 2006 to 2010. The current chair is Gianluca Antonelli.
I-RAS has been awarded by the "RAS Chapter of the year award", in 2006 and 2008 and in 2013!!
Italian RAS chapter counts 210 members (feb 2012) and is one of the 26 chapters of Italian IEEE section.
