The Summer School on robotics for children continues until September 17th, 2010
Reading time Reading time: 0.5 minutes

The Summer school is organized by the Agorà Social Consortium and by the School of Robotics, and goes on until September 17th (last lesson). In the previous lessons students have builded robots using the Lego NXT and WeDo kits, and also employing some parts of the Roomba vacuum clear robots, programmed with NXT-G.

The summer school on educational robotics was a successful experiment! During the 2010 summer two different groups of students were involved in a weekly lesson on robotics.

During the classes, the children worked on:

  • What is educational robotics?
  • Using pen and pencils, draw your robot.
  • Tell me a tale about robots.
  • Edit your video.
  • Assembling and programming robotics kits.

We used:

  • Lego Mindstorm NXT
  • Lego WeDo
  • Roomba Vacuum Cleaner (parts of)

We divided teenagers from kids, forming two separate groups. Disassembling Roomba robots was a very succesful step: the students started to use some technical drawing method, and the collaboration and comunication among them greatly improved.

During the Summer 2011, the School of Robotics has planned to organize some more structural Summer Schools. Follow us! :-)
