First® Lego® League: The complete Program for boys and girls is now online!

IN the frame of the First® Lego® League Interregional in Genova, Scuola di Robotica will offer freeworkshops on educational robotis and coding for boys and girls. This contest is funded and organised by Scuola di Robotica.

On 3rd and 4th of February 2018 the North-West Interregional  of  the First® Lego® League contest will take place in Genoa, in the Istituto Nautico San Giorgio (Calata Darsena). In the Genoa Interregional of the First® Lego® League 44 teams will be competing on a three-fold turnaments: technical (the robots built and programmed by them); scientific (the innovative ideas in order to enhance the way humans interact with the environment.; Core Values (The FIRST LEGO League Core Values are the cornerstones of the program. They are among the fundamental elements that distinguish FLL from other programs of its kind. By embracing the Core Values, participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.

This year’s main theme is Hydro dynamics: Water, a fundamental resource for human life.

This contest is funded and organised by Scuola di Robotica.

Visitors will have the possibility to visit the stands and talk with people about their experience.

Moreover, for the second year in a row the Jr First Lego League will also take place, dedicated to kids from 6 up to 10 years.

In this occasion Scuola di Robotica will offer free robotics and coding workshops for boys and girls.

Also, various workshops about educational robotics dedicated to teachers and interested people will take place.

Here is the program for kids’ workshops as follows:

Build Minecraft tools with a 3D pen! (7-11 years)

Day: february 3rd

Starting time: 10:00

Duration: 60 minutes

In this workshop, in collaboration with ILAB, participants ranging from 7 up to 11 years can come to the crafting table to create Minecraft tools! But how? Thanks to the 3D pen the tools will be crafted and they will become real!

 

Electric circuits made of paper ( 7-10 years)

Day: february 3rd

Starting time: 11:00

Duration: 60 minutes

In this workshop, in collaboration with ILAB participants ranging from 7 up to 10 years will be able to build interactive postcards! Thanks to paper circuits the will learn the electronics basics including conduction, leds and batteries.

 

Let’s program drones

Day: february 3rd

Starting time: 12:00

Duration: 60 minutes

This workshop, in collaboration with ILAB, will make people able to program small drones with the Tynker software in order to make them fly. It won’t be a simple drones class, coding basic will also be included!

 

WaterWorld: Build LEGO robots to fight climate change

Day: february 3rd

Duration: 60 minutes

 

The climate change effects can be seen by everybody, this workshop for boys and girls ranging from 8 up to 12 years tells how technology can come in help to track and fight climate change. In this workshop participants will build small robots and dams with LEGO WEDO 2.0 kit.

 

“Acqua e sapone” science

Day: february 3rd

Starting time: 15:00 – 16:00

Day: february 4th

Duration: 60 minutes

In collaboration with “La Città dei Bambini e dei Ragazzi”.

How is a soap ball made? What is its true shape? Is it transparent or coloured?

Only a little bit of water and some soap drops are needed to discover a world made of shapes and colours in which we can find answers to these and other curious facts. Let’s make some experiments using all the tools to understand soap balls better.

Duration: 60 minutes

Workshop for kids from 5 to 7 years using the LittleBits kit which allows people to build real interactive objects without having to code anything. This workshop will allow them to explore the underwater world discovering the lights contained there. All the activity will be a workshop.

 

Tubes (7-12 years)

Starting time: 14:00 - 15:00 – 16:00

Starting time: 10:00 – 11:00 – 12:00

Duration: 60 minutes

Workshop for kids from 7 to 12 years about the building of an animated digital story using play-doh in stop motion!

 

Stranger robots

Day: february 3rd

Starting time: 10:00 – 11:00 – 12:00

Day: february 4th

Starting time: 14:00 - 15:00 – 16:00

Duration: 60 minutes

We have been taking ideas from movies and tv series, so we couldn’t let Stranger Things slip out.

The workshop will use a LEGO MINDSTORM EV3, other details are classified, and the answers can only be found in the in the UpsideDown! (8 to 12 years)

 

Byor Junior: build your own little robot (10-13 years)

Duration: 60 minutes

In this workshop for boys and girls we will build 100% working robots made out of paper!

Robots will be programmes with Scratch for Arduino. At the end of the workshop the paper robot (excluding Arduino and sensors) will be yours to keep!

 

Baby NAO (6-10 years)

Day: february 3rd

Starting time: 15:00

Day: february 4th

Starting time: 11:00

Duration: 60 minutes

Scuola di Robotica has been working with humanoids for quite a while.

This workshop is made for the younger ones, who will interact with the NAO robot.

 

NAO will talk, dance, sing and interact with the kids and will do a preview of the robots’ future.

 

NAO ACTOR STUDIOS (>10 years)

Duration: 60 minutes

 

In th is workshop, accessible by those who are +10 years old we will program the humanoid robot NAO to make him play in history’s most successful filmd: Titanic, Rocky, Star Wars, Lord of the Ring and many more! Are you ready?

During the workshop you will be using the Choregraphe software to program the robots!

Workshop open to people wanting to take their first steps in 3D printing and digital drawing!

 

Game of Legones

 

Day: February 3rd

 

Starting time: 10:00 – 11:00 -12:00 14:00 -15:00 -16:00

Duration: 60 minutes

 

In this workshop we will discover wonderful castles made of Lego and we will narrate stories with Lego minifigures that will come to life inside the buildings

 

Tinkering Lab: Robots of “Il Mare in 3D”

 

Day: february 4th

 

Starting time: 10:00 -12:00 -15:00

 

Duration: 60 minutes

 

Let’s explore the automata worlds using recycled materials and mechanical parts made with the “Il Mare in 3D” project.

 

We will tell a story starting from scratch to later pass from the development and arrive to the construction!

 

Tinkering Lab: Make your pond (8-12 years)

Day: february 4th

Starting time: 11:00 -14:00 -16:00

Duration: 60 minutes

A workshop where water, solo protagonist, will give us a point to start from in order to study various arguments.

 

Which animals live in a pond? What’s the difference between conductors and insulants? How do objects fluctuate in the water? We will answer these questions with the help of Makey Makey!

 

Workshop dedicated to boys and girls from 8 up to 12 years.
